A couple of weeks ago I was out for a family walk when we spotted a line of painted rocks on the Curragh. We went for a closer look and we weren't disappointed! Some were cute, some were funny, some were inspirational and some were promoting favourite football teams or superheroes! We wondered what the story was, how did they come to be there? Who painted them? Can anyone do it? It turns out anyone can join and they can do it anywhere. Let me explain. It's a worldwide movement called Positivity Rocks and the idea is to paint a rock in any way you want and leave it somewhere to help spread positivity. Maybe there is a line within your 5km radius already? If not, you could start your own and see if anyone joins... or even just put it in your front garden for passersby to admire. We have checked back every now and then and the line is nearly 2km long now! So this week we challenge you to spread some positivity within your 5km zone. Further down you will see a very simple tutorial for a family handprint. We look forward to see what kind of Positivity Rocks you paint.
Family Handprint:
Find a suitable rock, stone or even leftover paving slab.
If you want to, paint a background colour. We used white ceiling paint.
Choose a colour per family member and start with the biggest hand!!
Wait until each handprint dries before doing the next one. Top tip: use lots of paint.
Use a marker to write positive messages.
To make sure it's waterproof you could paint a layer of PVA glue. We wrapped ours in two layers of cling film. Let us now what worked for you?
